A former Au occurrence/mine located in the S½ sec. 1 & in the N½ sec. 12, T15S, R20E, SBM, 9.2 km (5.7 miles) NE of Bard (4.5 miles NE of Ogilby siding). Discovered in 1884. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.

Mineralization is hosted in rocks of the Neoproterozoic Tumco Formation (arkose). The ore body is lenticular & tabular, strikes N40-80E and dips 25-50SE at a width of 4.57 meters. Controls for ore emplacement included a fault. The arkosite is gray, fine-grained, indurated material comp[osed of quartz, feldspar, hornblende and biotite. It is intruded by narrow pegmatite dikes of varying form and orientation. Mineralized zones are in the Tumco arkosite. The footwall has a regular plane while the hanging wall is irregular. Mineral zones are identical to country rock although the feldspars are kaolinized. Local rocks include Quaternary alluvium and marine deposits.

Workings include underground openings comprised of a 1,200 foot inclined shaft at the Golden Crown claim and 1,100 foot shafts at the Golden Cross and the Golden Queen workings. Total horizontal workings are 8 miles (12.8 km).

Comments on the production information: $2,863,000 (period values) in Au (45% of the county's total production).
