A former Au mine located in sec. 19, T4S, R17E, MDM, 4.0 km (2.5 miles) SE of Williams Peak and 2.2 km (7,200 feet) W of Bear Valley, in the headwaters area of Bear Creek (Hornitos Road). Discovered <1893. Operated by Glenn Coburn (1941). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.

Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in greenstone. The ore body is podiform, lenticular masses, strikes N40-45E and dips 75NW. The wall rocks are sheared and schistose pyroxene andesite greenstone. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).

Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 128.02 meters and comprised of 2 shafts and adits. The underground workings are probably extensive based on the size of the dumps. None are accessible.

Local structures include a narrow shear zone.

Production data are found in: Bowen & Gray (1957).

No recent activity except for utilization of the extensive dumps for road base and fill.
