A former talc occurrence/mine located in sec. 26, T19N, R5E, SBM, 23.1 km (14.4 miles) SW of Tecopa, on National Park Service land (Death Valley National Park), in the southern Ibex Hills. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters.
Local rocks include Precambrian rocks, undivided, unit 1 (Death Valley).
Adjacent to the Superior is the Whitecap Talc Mine, also owned and operated during its active life by the Southern California Minerals Company. Consisting of a single body of ore, the Whitecap was worked between 1947 and 1951, yielding 6,315 tons of ore. The mine has not been operated since 1951, and is now the property of Pfizer, Inc.Latschar, 1981
