A former Au-PGE (Pt) stream placer mine and deposit located 0.3 km (900 feet) ENE of Platina, at Platinum Gulch (Location given is for the mouth of Platinum Gulch at Platina. Placers are presumed to be along Platinum Gulch). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10,000 meters.

Mineralization is a placer deposit (Deposit model code: 119; USGS model code 39a; BC deposit profile C01. C02; Deposit model name Placer Au-PGE
Mark3 model number 54), hosted in stream gravels The ore body is probably pockets or lenses in stream sediments. Controls for ore emplacement was stream hydraulics. Platina is underlain by small area of Cretaceous marine rocks, but streams drain areas of accreted terrane. Local rocks include Lower Cretaceous marine rocks.

Mineralization is in the Klamath Mountains Accreted Terrane.
