A former Au mine located in secs. 16 & 21, T1N, R16E, MDM, 1.0 km (3,400 feet) NE of Groveland (about 2 miles S of Tuolumne, on the E side of the N fork of the Tuolumne River), on private land. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated. This group is a relocation of the old Martin Mine.
Mineralization is a vein deposit with a vein 10 to 30 inches (25 to 75 cm)thick, hosted in slate. The vein lies in bluish gray slate containing a large percentage of pyrite. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings comprised of 3 adits at 60, 450 and 320 feet in length. Most of the significant work done prior to 1900.
