A Cr occurrence/claims/mine located in sec. 36, T1S, R14E, MDM, 4.4 km (2.7 miles) W of Moccasin Peak (coordinates of record) (just N of the Ace of Spades Mine). Owned by Mssrs. Williamson, Rosenthal, and Mertz. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.
Mineralization is hosted in Late Jurassic dunite. Local alteration is serpentinization of the host rock. The deposit occurs in the southern part of the westernmost of 2 serpentine belts which trend NW-SE across the county. The belt is exposed over an area 30 km by 6 km.Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains).
Workings include unspecified surface and underground openings. Some development work done on the claims but workings could not be found in 1945.
Production information: Ten tons of ore were mined but not shipped.
