A former lode Au group of occurrence/claims/mine located in sec. 22, T1N, R14E, MDM, 0.4 km (1,200 feet) WNW of Stent and 3.8 km (2.4 miles) S of Jamestown (on the SE slope of Quartz Mountain), on private land. The property consists of 4 claims. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated. NOTE: This locality is closer to Stent than Jamestown; however, it is listed as Jamestown since it is a component of the Jamestown group.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in schist and slate. The ore body strikes N16W and dips 65NE. A series of greenstone dikes accompany the vein defined by numerous stringers cutting the slate formation. The average thickness of the vein is 6 feet. The ore is from the quartz stringers and gouge seams. This location was especially known for its pocket deposits. Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 243.84 meters. There are 3 shafts: No. 1 is 830 feet deep in the hanging wall with 3 levels at 400, 600 & 800 feet. The No. 2 is 600 feet cutting the vein at 400 feet. The Knox and Boyle shaft is 800 feet. There are extensive crosscut and drifts from each shaft.
