In 1854 the Forest Mining Company set off land to form the Tremont and Devon Mining Companies on land that was previously explored by Forest. Exploration work was conducted on both properties in the 1850’s and early 1860’s. It was discovered that the Minesota Conglomerate crossed the property and shortly thereafter three shafts and many adits were driven. In 1868 it was reported that small masses of copper along with barrel and stamp ore were being recovered. In 1868 the mines produced around one ton of copper, mostly from the Forest Amygdaloid which also crossed the property. Most of the production was coming from the Devon shafts; the Tremont was not explored as heavily or developed as much. In 1908, the companies merged to form the Tremont Devon Mining Company. Exploration continued, but mining ceased after this time.
