Comments:At the off-ramp exposure the best crystals are translucent yellow dogtooth crystals to about 1.5 cm with good fluorescence. In the pit, the crystals are larger, to 2.5 cm and well formed but largely an ugly opaque red-brown from inclusions.
Habit:Scalenohedral to rhombohedral
Colour:colorless, white, yellow, red-brown
Luminescent properties:orange-red (best under MW UV), white to pale blue (outer zone on some dogtooth crystals under LW UV)
Quality for species:Good crystals or rich for species - important (!)
