Shigeho Sueno (1937-2001)
Formula:
◻{X2}{Z5}(Si8O22)(OH)2
Name:
Shigeho Sueno (1937-2001), Professor of Mineralogy at the University of Tsukuba
The Suenoite group comprise monoclinic and orthorhombic amphiboles in the magnesium-iron-manganese amphibole subgroup with Mn as the dominant cation in the B position. The minerals in this root name group may have either Pnma or Pnmn (proto- prefixed name) space group symmetry. Suenoite is defined as ☐{X2}{Z5}(Si8O22)(OH)2 with A: (Na+K+2Ca)<0.5 X: Mn>1 and Z:(Al+Fe3++2Ti)<1 apfu.
