A small Cu-Mo-Co-V prospect inside the Cradle Mountain–Lake St Clair National Park boundary, so no unauthorised collecting.
The country rock consists of older Precambrian chlorite schist and Cambrian porphyry. The lode is in schist but is in contact with a porphyry dyke at its northern end. The schist from the Mt Remus prospect is weakly mineralised, containing pyrite and traces of molybdenite, chalcopyrite, tourmaline and allanite. The sulphides are mostly present in highly deformed quartz-chlorite veins, up to 150mm wide, but mostly less than 12mm in width in a 1m wide band.
Cobalt occurs in pyrite.
Vanadium may be present in chlorite or mica, but this remains unconfirmed.
