A former placer Au-Ag-PGE (Pt) mine (dredge) located in sec. 1, T5S, R14E, MDM, 4.5 km (2.8 miles) E of Snelling and 4.9 km (3.1 miles) W of Merced Falls, along the Merced River, on both banks, in the vicinity of river miles 50 to 51. First produced in 1930. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.

Local rocks include Quaternary alluvium and marine deposits.
