The Copper Crown Mine was organized in 1905 when it purchased the lands of the Essex after it closed. The Essex worked the original Norwich Mining Company properties. Over the next three years, the Copper Crown also purchased the Windsor, Ohio Trap Rock, and additional mines in the area to form one large operation. By 1908, the company went bankrupt when it could not meet its payroll obligations. It is said that the company was good at selling stock, but not good at mining.
