Abandoned limestone quarry with fossils (rudists) and large silex nodules.




O sítio arqueológico da Pedreira do Aires situa-se à entrada do Bairro do Girassol, no início da Rua Aurélio Paz dos Reis, freguesia da Ramada, concelho de Odivelas. Encontra-se no fundo de uma pequena encosta, na margem Sul da Ribeira de Caneças, no extremo Este de um conjunto de pedreiras que, descendo de Oeste, se dispõem em vários plateaux, na estreita franja de calcários com rudistas do Cenomaniano superior. Esta franja, rica em nódulos siliciosos, rodeia a norte o complexo basáltico que constitui grande parte do substrato geológico do Concelho de Odivelas, servindo de separador entre este e a mancha de calcários e margas do Albiano/Cenomaniano médio que se dispõe a Norte (Zbyszewski, 1964).
