A Cistercian village granted by Duke Mieszko III the Old (Piast dynasty) on April 26, 1177. In 1202 the Cistercians from Lubiąż in the nearby village of Winnica established their grangia (Cistercian manor). Słup remained their property until the beginning of the 19th century. In 1978 finished Słup Lake, a retention reservoir located on the channel of the Nysa Szalona river (Germ. Wütende -or Jauersche Neiße)
