Benson Clay Deposit


A Gypsum-Bentonite occurrence in the bluff forming the valley rim, 1/3 mile West of Benson. Located in sec. 21, T17S, R20E.

Mineralization is a lacustrine gypsum deposit hosted in red bentonite clay with aggregates of small, platy selenite beneath coarse Cenozoic sandstone. Gypsum occurs in lens-shaped masses. The grade is probably poor and the extent limited.
