A former lode Au-Ag mine located in sec. 16, T9N, R20E, MDM, 2.3 km (7,700 feet) NNW of Silver Mountain site, in the headwaters area of IXL Canyon, on National Forest wilderness land (Mokelumne Wilderness). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters (see note).
NOTE: The geographic coordinates provided in the MRDS files are inaccurate. The coordinates provided in this file are taken from the relevent topo map which has an adit symbol specifically labeled for this mine.
Mineralization is hosted in Pliocene andesite. Local rocks include Tertiary pyroclastic and volcanic mudflow deposits, unit 9 (Cascade Range).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 200 foot deep shaft.
