A former lode Au mine located in the SW¼SW¼ sec. 24, T13N, R9E, MDM, 2.1 km (1.3 miles) NNW of French Hill (coordinates of record) and 2.3 km (1.4 miles) WNW of Spanish Dry Diggings, at the N end of Cherokee Flat, on private land. Operated during the periods 1921 to 1928 and 1934. Produced during the period 1921 to 1928. Prospected in 1954. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.

Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in slate, amphibolite and schist. The ore body strikes N20W and dips 80NE at a thickness of 1.83 meters. There are 2 veins approximately 200 feet apart. Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).

Workings include surface and underground openings with an overall depth of 33.53 meters and an overall width of 45.72 meters and comprised of a 450 foot adit and an open cut.


Production statistics: Year: 1948; period: 1921-1948: 17 grams Au/metric ton.

Analytical data results: unoxidized ore ran good assays.
