A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in sec. 1, T12N, R9E, and in sec. 36, T13N, R9E, MDM, 2.4 km (1.5 miles) SSW of Spanish Dry Diggings, on the divide between American Canyon and Hoboken Canyon (2½ miles N of Greenwood), on private land. Operated by H. V. Colby. Operated around 1894. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters. Logan (1938) shows this location in sec. 36, and Logan (1926), page 431, shows it in sec. 36 and sec. 1, as presented above.
NOTE: USGS MRDS file #10029835 presents erroneous geographic coordinates for this locality.
Mineralization is a vein deposit. The ore body strikes N and dips E. The deposit contains specimen gold. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings comprised of an adit.
