A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in secs. 1, 11 & 12, T20N, R11E, MDM, 0.8 km (0.5 mile) NE of Bassetts and S of the Carvin Creek Homesites, along the W canyon wall of the North Yuba River (4½ miles NE of Sierra City), on National Forest land. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in slate and porphyry. The vein is 6 feet thick and lies along a slate and porphyry contact. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
This mine has been long idle. No production record was found.
