A Mn occurrence located in the SW¼ sec. 30, T1N, R8E, HM, 1.7 km (5,600 feet) ENE of Copper Hill, in the headwaters area of North Rattlesnake Creek (on the W bank of the Middle Fork North Rattlesnake Creek, about 1 mile by trail S of the Bear Wallow Forest Service Road). MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated
Mineralization is hosted in chert. Manganiferous red or purple chert exposures separated by greenstone in between. Chert strikes N60E and dips 45N. It strikes into serpentine 600 feet SW of the pit, and is surrounded by greenstone elsewhere. Chert is stained with Mn oxide, and in places a small amount of oxides penetrate the chert. The primary ore is apparently brown manganiferous chert. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 9 (Western Klamath Mountains).
Analytical data results: Ore grade 10 to 15% Mn.
