A former lode Au mine located in secs. 8, 9 & 16, T1N, R16E, MDM, 1.4 km (4,400 feet) SSE of Tuolumne (E of the North Fork Tuolumne River). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters. Part of the Providence Mine.
Mineralization is hosted in slate. The ore body is 4.88 meters thick. Two ore shoots 40 and 80 feet on this vein. The average thickness of the vein is 5 feet. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include underground openings comprised of an adit 300 feet long connected with a 125 foot shaft and a 75 foot deep winze at the base, all on the N side of the gulch. A 290 foot adit intersects a 152 foot deep shaft of the S side of the gulch.
