Ordinary chondrite (L6)
Find, 1963; 2.1 kg
Three fragments of a single meteoric stone were found. Inspections reveal indistinct chondrules within an equilibrated matrix. Compositionally, equilibrated olivine (Fa25) and low Ca-orthopyroxene ('hypersthene') are characteristic of the L-chondrite geochemical group. Mineralogically, the meteorite consists primarily of dominant olivine plus pyroxene accompanied by minor troilite and Fe-Ni metal. Accessory chromite, copper, ilmenite and minor sulfides are also reported. Goethite, a common meteorite weatherates, was observed in detail in an early use of Mössbauer spectroscopy to study meteorites (Herr & Skerra (1969).
A U-He age of ~1.14 Ga is reported, possibly indicative of a major collision involving an intermediate parent body (IPB) during the last one or two eons.
