Brammallite was identified by X-ray diffraction by the Natural History Museum, London, from the Dulais Seam at Cefn Coed Colliery (X2424). The specimen has not been catalogued into the NHM Collection and no further details are known.
Apart from the type locality, Llandebie, Cefn Coed Colliery is the only other Welsh locality for brammallite.
Cefn Coed Colliery, an anthracite pit, was opened by the Llwynonn Colliery Company during the 1920's and was taken over by the Amalgamated Anthracite Collieries Ltd in 1928. By 1945 there were 908 men employed.
Production ceased in 1968, but the shafts were kept open to provide access and ventilation for the New Blaenant drift mine, which occupied the same site.
The colliery is now a mining museum.
