A former lode Au mine located in sec. 22 & in the NW¼ sec. 27, T10N, R10E, MDM, 2.8 km (1.7 miles) NNE of Kingsville, and 2.4 km (1.5 miles) NW of El Dorado (El Dorado District), along the S side of US highway 50, on private land. Operated by Jerome M. Strickland, et al. Originally operated prior to 1894. Prospected during the period 1947 to 1948. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.

NOTE: This mine would appear to be beyond the western limit of the Mother Lode in the Shuingle Springs District (West Belt).

Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in Calaveras slate. The ore body strikes N10W and dips 74NE at a thickness of 0.61 meters. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges) and/or Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).

Workings include underground openings comprised of a 280 foot inclined shaft with levels at 100 and 300 feet and with drifts to the N and S. Originally a 10-stamp mill, and later a 5-stamp mill were erected.
