Part of the Kitty and Penhalls sett, Penhalls mine is in the northern part of the sett close to the shore of Trevaunance Cove.

The engine house and adjacent chimney at Sara's Shaft have been preserved but as of Feb 2023 the building is shut and locked with a notice posted in the window indicating it is unsafe. Close the engine house is a large heap of soft grey rock, almost devoid of minerals. A little down the slope are the ruins of 2 calciners and adjacent to those a very extensive dressing floor. The dressing floors and nearby tips of crushed sand and rock have been taken over as a wheeled sports area. West of Sara's Shaft above the road down to the beach are 2 large areas of slimes, also used for bicycles. On the cifftop is a large tip of broken rock. Feb, 2023.
