The Masua mine was a zinc-lead mine.
In 1922 the Masua mine was acquired by the Belgian Company Vieille Montagne.
The company had asked the Italian engineer Cesare Vecelli to build a loading system to improve the loading time of ships. Porto Flavia. In a nearby cliff some mine reservoirs (silos) were excavated in the rock, with a loading point for ships near the bottom of the cliff, this allowed the passage of large ships. Porto Flavia never was a mine, only a loading facility.
The Masua mine was closed in the 1990s.
