Name:
Named in honor of William Petruk (30 June 1930, Norquay, Saskatchewan, Canada), mineralogist with Natural Resources Canada, who noted the possible existence of the mineral in his study of the Mount Pleasant ore deposit (Petruk 1973).
An orthorhombic member of the Stannite Group.
The symmetry reduction may be due to a small In content.

Type Occurrence of PetrukiteHide

General Appearance of Type Material:
Small, round grains to 240 um in massive galena and sphalerite(Herb claim). Banded with sakuraiite and sphalerite, bands a few hundred microns thick (Ikuno mine), irregular round grains in quartz (Mount Pleasant).
