Ref.: The Iron Mines of New Jersey (1910), Bayley:488; NJ State Geol. Annual Rpts.: (1873):49; (1879):60; (1880):109; (1883):119; (1884):91; (1890):105. An iron mine in magnetite ore located about 1½ miles NNE of Powerville. Started over the winter of 1872-73. Featured a shaft 23 feet deep and produced only about 70 tons of ore. Ore body is 3 to 4 feet thick (about 1 meter).
