Prospect pits explored for manganese oxides derived by weathering of mylonitized or brecciated chert of the Paleozoic Ishigaki group, associated with silicified tuff breccia and altered white Tertiary Sakieda rhyolite in shear zone. Country rock exhibits disseminated small metallic crystals (pyrite and hematite?). Supergene manganese oxides and limonite occur in cavities and fissures, but quantities were not economic.
