The smoky quartz xls are found inside rhyolite thundereggs and are frequently associated with drusy quartz, amethyst, and milky quartz.
The smoky quartz crystals come in various forms including double terminated herkimer style crystals, sceptres, phantoms, and some have liquid bubbles and gaseous inclusions.
Good specimens require digging down several metres.
