Copper. Malachite and azurite stain two narrow retrogressed zones in amphibolite, cross-cutting basic granulite, preserved in the West Bore Zone, south-west of the Joker Flat Dam. A small amount of copper ore was produced, and more dumped at the camp (when inspected about 1980). Pits occur along the strike.
There are several small copper rich outcrops south-east of the dam, with a few containing very old shallow bulldozer costeans, and benches. A small deposit of coarsely crystalline beryl is in a quartz rich pegmatite, 2 kilometres west of the dam. Neither of the last two locations have seen any production.
One of several locations in the region designed for the adventurous, who are prepared to get lost, with the very real dangers this brings with it. The area contains thick mulga scrub, is flat, with little in the way of man-made or natural sites to get bearings by.
The mine is in the general area of the garnet fossicking location (Gemtree 'garnet lease' Mindat locality). The Joker Flat Dam site could not be confirmed, the area a maze of tracks, many diggings for garnet, with possible minor mica deposits, and pegmatites as well. Mindat map very approximate.
