An U-Cu occurrence/prospect located in the NWΒΌ sec. 34, T41N, R7E, G&SRM, 10.9 km (6.7 miles) N of Marble Canyon (town), in Paria Canyon on the N side of the Paria River, 2 miles NW of the Colorado River, on National Recreation Area land. The USGS MRDS database stated accuracy for this locality is 100 meters.
Mineralization is a U-Cu deposit hosted in sandstone and Late Cretaceous mudstone, with a small, tabular ore body in a vein-type deposit. The deposit occurs where sandstone is thick and contains black carbonaceous material. The ore body is 0.46 meter thick, 6.1 meter wide and 6.1 meter long. Sand grains are coated with U and Cu minerals within oxidized areas. Local rocks include rocks of the Chinle Formation.
A small, tabular occurrence of metatorbernite, torbernite, zippeite and secondary copper minerals associated with sparse black carbonaceous matter,
in thicker sandstone in upper and lower strata of Chinle Formation above the Shinarump Member.
Workings include underground openings comprised of a short drift. Explored by drifts.
No production.
