According to mineral collectors living in Tahiti Island, and French geologists who travelled to this island, there is no way to find any haüyne on the Taiarapu beach at Teahupoo on the West coast of the Taiarupu volcano.
The confusion seems to come from the name of the beach near Teahupoo, Taiarapu beach which is the same as the whole presqu’île.
All finds and samples come from the East coast of the Taiarupu volcano, in several valleys between Tautira and Pueu and also on the beach of Tautira.
References and geological map are in accordance with this fact checked in situ.
