A clay occurrence located in the SW¼SW¼ sec. 23, T8N, R14E, MDM, 7.1 km (4.4 miles) ENE of Dew Drop, along Tiger Creek, on private land. Owned by Winton Lumber Co. (1953). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a clay deposit. The deposit is exposed by Tiger Creek and a tributary creek. The overburden consists of alluvium and soil as much as 10 feet in thickness. Iron oxide is concentrated irregularly through the clay body while quartz and other mineral grains are present as impurities. The deposit is a result of hydrothermal alteration of andesitic sediments and agglomerates of the Miocene Mehrten Formation. Local rocks include Tertiary pyroclastic and volcanic mudflow deposits, unit 9 (Cascade Range).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 17 foot vertical shaft.
No production recorded.
