A former lode Au mine located in sec. 11, T5N, R12E, MDM, 3.0 km (1.9 miles) ENE of Jesus Maria. Operated during the period 1929 to 1933. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in mica schist and diorite. The ore body strikes N0-20E and dips W at a thickness of 1.52 meters. The vein varies from 2 to 5 feet thick. Country rock is intruded by diorite dikes. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada) and/or Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 150 foot inclined shaft with a level at 100 feet, with 500 feet of N-trending and 50 feet of S-trending drifts.
Analytical data results: Ore yielded $8 to $10 (period values) of Au/ton.
