A former lode Au occurrence/claim/mine located in the NW¼NE¼ sec. 16, T9N, R13E, MDM, 2.5 km (1.6 miles) SE of Brownsville (site), in the headwaters area of Dark Canyon Creek, on the W end of Barney Ridge. Property was an unpatented claim. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters. This property is apparently one of the claims of the Mount Pleasant group.
Mineralization is a vein deposit. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada) and/or Tertiary pyroclastic and volcanic mudflow deposits, unit 9 (Cascade Range).
