A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in the NE¼ sec. 4, T9N, R13E, MDM, 2.8 km (1.8 miles) SSE of Happy Valley and 3.2 km (2.0 miles) NNW of Grizzly Flat (5 miles NNE of Omo Ranch), on private land in a National Forest area. Property holdings are 40 acres. Operated by Helen B. Treat. Operated prior to 1888 and again in 1896. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in granodiorite. The ore body strikes N and dips W. Local rocks include Mesozoic gabbroic rocks, unit 2 (undivided) and/or Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 30.48 meters and comprised of a 100 foot vertical shaft and adits.
Production data are found in: Clark, Wm. B. & D.W. Carlson (1956).
A small amount of Au was produced in 1896.
