A former Cu occurrence/mine located in the NW¼ sec. 13, T29S R38E, MDM, about of Garlock, W of Mesquite Canyon (9¾ miles NE of Cantil). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in quartz diorite. The ore body is lenticular in form, strikes N40W and dips 60SW. Several parallel veins (4 veins) are 6 inches (15 cm) to 3 feet (0.91 meter) wide, and occur in a 100 foot wide belt that is a few hundred feet long. The ore occurs as grains, lenses and thin seams. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges) and/or schist of various types and ages, unit 4 (El Paso Mountains).
Workings include surface and underground openings with an overall depth 48.77 meters. The principal shaft is a 50 foot vertical shaft in the center of the belt of quartz veins. On the Zuma there is a shaft to 160 feet depth. A 100 foot trench was excavated on the Copperola No. 1 & No. 2 claims.
Production data are found in: Tucker, W. Burling, Reid J. Sampson, & Gordon Blaisdell Oakeshott (1949).
30 tons of ore were reportedly shipped to a smelter (reported in 1949 report).
