A Au occurrence located in the NW¼SE¼SW¼ sec. 19, T2N, R25E, MDM, 1.2 km (3,900 feet) N of Mount Scowden (coordinates of record) (on the N slope of the mountain, S of Lundy Canyon), on private (patented) land in a National Forest. Owned by D. Lutty. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters.
This is the namesake mine for the district's primary name.
NOTE: The MRDS file for the Wolverine property states: "Probably part of Homer Mill and Mining Co. ground."
Mineralization is hosted in granite. The Wolverine ore body strikes E-W and dips 25-30S at a thickness of 0.91 meters. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges); Jurassic marine rocks, unit 6 (Mono Lake) (Wolverine property).
Workings include underground openings. Workings for the Homer Mining property include a 500 foot tunnel with an 80 foot and 300 foot crosscuts. Workings on the Wolverine property include a 70 foot incline with a tunnel and stopes.
