A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in the center W½ sec. 4, T17N, R11E, MDM, about 4.3 km (2.5 miles) N of Omega and about 5 km ENE of Washington, on the W canyon wall of Canyon Creek, on National Forest land. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.

Mineralization is hosted in slate and quartzite. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).

Description: Undivided Paleozoic metasedimentary rocks. Includes slate, sandstone, shale, chert, conglomerate, limestone, dolomite, marble, phyllite, schist, hornfels, and quartzite

Comments: Western Sierra Nevada. Lower Paleozoic Shoo Fly Complex and upper Paleozoic to lower Mesozoic Calaveras Complex, undivided. Deformed and metamorphosed rocks composed primarily of quartzite, argillite, and chert; includes melange
