A former lode Au-Pb mine located in secs. 19 &30, T1S, R16E, MDM, 0.5 km (1,500 feet) SSE of Big Oak Flat, on private land. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.
This mine is composed of the Mack claim, Wooden claim, Little Sisters claim and the Two Brothers claim. The latter 2 claims are almost 1 mile NE of the Mack claim, separated by the Champion Lode Quartz Mine.
Mineralization is a stringer quartz vein deposit hosted in quartz diorite, mica schist and slate. The ore body is lenticular, strikes E and dips 36N and/or 65N at a thickness of 12.19 meters. Quartz stringers cut the schist. The vein averages 5 feet in thickness. The main shaft is on the vein with quartz diorite walls; west of the shaft the quartz vein is in slate. The ore contains 1% pyrite and some galena. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 250 foot deep shaft conencted at its base to a 700 foot adit. There are 2 veins on the property but work was limited to one. An alternate description of the workings is provided in the second MRDS database file: 2 inclined shafts at 35 degrees, at 450 feet and 100 feet deep, respectively. Drifts were driven at every 100 feet on the main shaft to the 600 level.
