A former Hg occurrence/group of claims/mine located in the SE¼ sec. 18, T18S, R12E, MDM, 1.3 km (0.8 miles) NNW of Sampson Peak (coordinates of record), on private (patented) land. Produced during the periods 1917 to 1918 and 1933 to 1942. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in rocks of the Panoche Upper Cretaceous sandstone and shale. Local alteration included silica carbonate alteration of serpentine. Controls for ore emplacement included local shearing. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 3 (Coast Ranges and Western Klamath Mountains).
