Habit: fibrous to elongate prismatic grains 6-50 ΞΌm in diameter and 1-5 ΞΌm in length, and as subhedral equant grains 5-50 ΞΌm
Description: occurs in low-temp, high-pressure metamorphosed Mn-rich quartzites.

Type Locality:
Description: occurs as randomly interspersed brown-red grains in a fine-grained matrix of spessartine, rhodonite, rhodocrosite and braunite in a highly oxidized quartzitic mica-schist. The manganiandrosite-(La) described in the type description was subhedral to euhedral grains commonly with a maximum diameter of 0.02-0.06 mm (20-60 Β΅m), and rarely up to 0.2 mm.
