Wegeltena (also known as Wegel Tena; Amharic: ወገል ጠና), is the main town and administrative center of Delanta woreda (district).
Located at 3,000 m high on the Ethiopian Plateau, which is conformed by a succesion of Oligocene volcanic materials including opal-bearing rhyolitic ignimbrite.
Half dozen of active large mining areas (Alwat, Koke Woha, Tirtrya, Minch, Gelbate and Nech Gedel) and countless small diggings around the town are worked looking for opal.
