Waupaca County is underlain by Cambrian sandstone to the south and granitic rocks of the 1.4 billion year old Wolf River Batholith in the north. The Wolf River rocks are locally exposed near Waupaca, where they show excellent Rapakivi texture, and near Little Falls. Intriguing pegmatites are found near Big Falls and Keller Lake ,and may be exposed during construction. A few pits seeking uranium ore have been dug, with no economic development to date. Glacial drift obscures bedrock in most of the county.
