Minerals found in the shales, schist and volcanic sediments of the Rosaire formation, and Caldwell formation (Cambrian), which were metamorphosized ocean sediments associated closely with the Thetford Mines ophiolites during the closing of the Japetus Ocean during the Taconic Orogeny. Fred Schuster collected during the excavation for the new route 73 which passed through Saint Joseph de Beauce. Minerals occurred in fracture veins.
