A Cu occurrence/prospect with underground workings located in sec. 25, T13S, R11E, on National Park property.
Mineralization is an ore zone 0.05 meters wide, striking N70E and dipping 75S, hosted in arkose. Dump material includes some white quartz monzonite with feldspar altered to quartz-sericite (?), biotite altered to chlorite, and some epidote. Scarce Cu minerals occur in the skarn. The fracture zone contains massive limonite and gypsum. A small piece of relict massive pyrite found may be from this zone. Arkose beds exposed immediately to the west may have quartz-sericite alteration. Some fragments of hornfels on the dump have quartz monzonite veins as much as several cm wide. Alteration includes quartz-sericite-pyrite; propylitic; pyrite-gossan; and skarn. An associated rock unit is quartz monzonite.
Workings include a tunnel with a shaft at the portal, on the fracture zone.
