Two neighbouring gold mines on the same lode. They are open pits, 700 metres apart at the northern end of the St Ives complex, within the Lake Lefroy salt-pan bed.
The gold bearing structure is sub-parallel, north striking, moderately east dipping called the Santa Ana Shear. There is a 2 to 20 metres thick zone of supergene enrichment in the overlying regolith. Above this is 12 metres of Tertiary sediments containing little or no gold. The gold bearing shear is at the contact between light coloured oligoclase dominated tonalite to the west, and Paringa Basalt/Condenser Dolerite to the east. To the south-east is a complex area of lamprophyric intrusions. Both these host broad low grade gold mineralisation, with high grade gold in localised structures.
