Abandoned limestone quarry, located close the road between the village of Almenara and Barrio-Mar in the coast, in the proximity of L´Estany d´Almenara. The quarry mining activity ceased around the 1980s, and has since used as a municipal rubbish and debris dump. The limestone quarry is very karstified, with voids filled with large crystals of calcite and crusts of calcite with stalactitic and coralloid appearance. At the time of exploitation, big and beautiful calcite crystals were found in stalactitic groups up to 30 cm. Presently, it is still possible to find beautiful groups of crystals, in more discrete sizes.
